This is the whole problem with reducing complicated historical issues to simplistic rhetoric. We know George Washington kept slaves. Using the same infantile logic, the US should tear down every monument to Washington. General Grant (Unionist) kept slaves. As did many union generals and many union civilians. So no. The US civil war was not about slavery. To demonise the south in this regard is a bastardization of history and an intentional lie. For the sake of promoting division and provoking a backlash. These people know exactly what they are doing.

  3. Removing statues of historical figures like Lee is a deliberate provocation. Lee was nothing like Adolf Hitler. The American civil war wasn't a war fought over slavery. This is simply the sanitization of history by a small highly politicized group. They wanted this. And they got it.
