  1. If you think 40 years of EU membership can be undone in a couple of weeks, you are an idiot. There will be no hidden clauses, because in order for those clauses to have any legitimacy in law, they must by definition be known about in order to have any effect. The UK is leaving the EU. May has done what she promised she would do.

  7. I wouldn't have given them a penny, apart from the money owed for the time we remain in the EU before we leave. But you can't have everything. If the UK is going to leave the EU, what demands are you expecting the UK to make exactly? We will no longer be a member, so we have no right to make any demands of the EU at all.

  8. There's the problem. The UK can demand all it likes, but once it leaves it has no right to expect anything. This is why i believe the UK should have linked any lump sum payments to a satisfactory result when it comes to any future trade agreements. As a member of the EU, the UK hasn't been able to make its own trade deals for several decades. So the UK needs to hit the ground running. And if the UK has obligations it needs to honour to the EU (money) then so too does the EU have obligations to the UK it should honour. It hasn't done so, and I don't believe it ever intended to. But the results so far are pretty much as i expected them to be. I think May has done pretty well considering she has opposition basically cheering on the other side and is held to account in a way those she is negotiating with are not.
