  4. The trouble is Japan is not poking anyone. But China's fascist buffer state is firing missiles over Japanese territory. Japan may have a bad past, but then so does China. A nuclear armed Japan would scare the shit out of Beijing. So just how serious is China about stopping nuclear proliferation? And if they're not, then are they willing to live with the consequences?

But there is a reason why China is signed up to the non proliferation treaty, and that's because nuclear weapons are a great leveller (that's why the Kim regime wants them after all). China has disagreements with Japan over territory. True, it knows that Japan's defence rests on the US. But that could change. Besides, from China's point of view having to deal with only one nuclear armed nation (the US) is better than having to deal with two (Japan). Japan wouldn't actually have to start developing them. They would simply have to make the right noises to rattle Beijing enough to sort out their fascist buffer state and the Kim regime. South Korea could do the same. China didn't sign up to the nuclear non proliferation treaty to please others. It has very good reason not to want an nuclear armed Japan and South Korea.
