And there, ladies and gentlemen, is the truth behind the European Union! You don't like the idea of an elected government carrying out the mandate of the voters who put them in power? Don't worry, the EU will save them from themselves! You are either for democracy or against it. There is no middle way. There is no 'I'm down with the democratic will of the people, just so long as they agree with me!' What Owen Jones says has been said countless times before: 'Democracy is only convenient when it matches my own political beliefs'. His is an argument against democratic principles. Vote Leave was never about putting Johnson or Gove or Farage in government. It was about who is ultimately in power? Brussels or the UK voter? So once Jones has finally managed to scrape himself off the floor, he might like to ask himself what responsibility he, and others like him, have for the situation we now find ourselves in.
