Let's hope we don't find any Labour run councils have tower blocks with the same cladding as Grenfell Tower, eh? Because that would make Labour evil and uncaring, like the tories. But with the added bonus of being massive fuckin hypocrites!
100
So Labour councils decided to clad buildings in flammable material because of government cuts???
9
If it is found that this very same flammable material was used on council blocks run by Labour councils, how the fuck is any of that relevant? It's just fuckin hypocritical!
6
And don't be accusing me of political point scoring when the fuckin labour party play politics with tragedy.
5
Corbyn did the exact same thing with terror attacks. Even while they were going on in mainland Europe!
5
philajfran Desperately banging on about cladding? You mean the cladding that burnt down the entire building? The cladding that was flammable? Obviously. Because that was the problem. And Labour councils are as guilty as tory councils for that. Can't blame private landlords for what Labour councils did, can you!
4
So Labour ignored warnings from the Fire Brigade Union about cladding way back in 1999. And, like tory councils, fitted that very same cladding to tower blocks in their council run areas, and yet they're not as heartless and uncaring as the tories? Labour run councils of Croydon, Sheffield, and Islington have recently said they will be fitting sprinklers to all council owned tower blocks following the Grenfell fire. Why haven't they done so already? No law stopping them. Heartless and hypocritical? Since 2007 all new tower blocks in England over 30m high must be fitted with sprinklers by law. Grenfell was just over 67m. But was built in 1974. Clearly, its fuckin ridiculous for sprinkler systems not to be fitted in all buildings over 30m. But did Labour propose to change the law to make this happen? It should be easy enough to find out. Just link to the Labour amendment.

The Conservatives voted down a Labour amendment to the Housing and Planning Act. The amendment sought to alter Section Eight of Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 which currently obligates private landlords to make a house fit for human habitation during a tenancy unless the contract exceeds a few conditions. One such condition is that the rent does not exceed the figures laid down in a (by now completely ancient) reference table. In addition, the section pertaining to ensuring a house is habitable does not apply to contracts of three years or more, on terms that transfer the responsibility to the tenant. Labour's amendment sought to change the above definitions to: ...any tenancy or licence under which a dwelling house is let wholly or mainly for human habitation. With the following conditions: (3ZA) Subsection 1 does not apply where the condition of the dwelling-house or common parts is due to— (a) a breach by the tenant of the duty to use the dwelling-house in a tenant-like manner, or often express term of the tenancy to the same effect; or (b) damage by fire, flood, tempest or other natural cause or inevitable accident. The law doesn't pertain to Grenfell Tower - it concerns private landlords. There is no mention of requiring sprinkler systems in all buildings over 30m regardless of when they were built in the Labour amendment. Or of prohibiting the use of cladding as was used on Grenfell Tower. If you think there is, perhaps you might provide a link?

So what we have here is Labour claiming that they tried to introduce a law that would've stopped the Grenfell Tower fire. When in actual fact, it would've done no such fuckin thing.
4
Obviously, Owen Jones would never debate with Douglas Murray. Because Murray would wipe the floor with him. The extremist left can only exist in a vacuum. Which is why they campaign so hard to shut down opposing voices.
3
So labour council housing isn't safe?
3
philajfran ...Duh! Labour were in charge in 2006! Actually, the Fire Brigade Union was warning about the risk way back in 1999! ...still Labour!
3
Marxist Dweeb philajfran You seem not to understand. The amendment that Labour put forward and that the tories blocked was aimed at private landlords. Grenfell Towers was council owned. It wouldn't have been effected by the amendment. Not only that, but the Labour amendment had nothing to do with fitting sprinkler systems or smoke detectors or banning flammable cladding. I really can't make it any simpler than that.
3
stefanos2691 And excuse me if I don't take a Corbyn supporter seriously when he condemns others for being a bigot living in the sewer.
2
Corbyn, his front bench, and his hard core support are extremists. IRA terrorists, jihadists, Stalinists, ayatollah loyalists, all are welcome with the Labour leadership. Ensuring that Labour can never again point the finger at the far right.
2
philajfran Did I say everything was Labours fault? I just pointed out that if it were found that tower blocks with the same cladding as Grenfell Tower were found in Labour council run areas, it would make Labour just as guilty. And hypocrites. Wouldn't you agree?
2
And I don't really care about Palestine either way. Just like you don't care about Syria.
2
Gail Nunn Don't lie to take advantage of a tragedy.
2
DBZM1k3 Did the Labour amendment include the fitting of sprinkler systems to all tower blocks over 30m regardless of when they were built? Did it include the banning of flammable cladding? Did it apply to council run blocks? If not, then the Labour amendment would have made no difference to Grenfell. And Labour are lying.
2
All just an excuse to cover for a 'comedian' that gets his kicks from mocking the disabled.
2
If the DUP are extremists, how come they're not friends with Jeremy Corbyn?
1
Hey, stefanos2691! You still peddling your Marxist class warfare 'let's kill anyone who doesn't agree with us' bullshit?
1
He supports Jeremy Corbyn and the labour leadership.
1
stefanos2691 Ditto for me. Fucktard.
1
Yes, Alex Daniel. Plausible deniability is a wonderful thing. But if you make excuses for Corbyn, then how are you going to condemn the BMP or the EDL? Don't see Tommy Robinson sucking up to terrorists, do we?
1
The information is out there! I would've thought you would know Corbyn's track record by now? No, wait. It's all Fake News isn't it!
1
True thought. Commies are expert at killing commies. It's the one thing they're actually good at. Let's not discourage them.
1
DBZM1k3 No. What it boils down to is that Labour are trying to claim that their amendment would have forced landlords (private and council) to install sprinkler systems and ban flammable cladding on tower blocks. That is not true. It had nothing to do with fire regulations or council run tower blocks.
1
Marxist Dweeb philajfran Same amendment. You're just talking about the same amendment. Aimed at private landlords. Grenfell Tower was council owned. Those are the facts. Pretty desperate of you to be repeating the same lie over and over when it has already been debunked m8.
1
Don't expect consistency from the hard left. Hypocrisy is what they do best.
