We already have to pay for medical treatment and always have. And why do so many people have goldfish memories? Remember the TTIP negotiations? Back then it was the EU bargaining away the NHS (before Trump called the whole thing off). So who would you rather trust with the NHS? The EU? Or a directly elected UK government?

John's off to patronise the great unwashed again! - But this actually says more about John Harris than it does those he's interviewing. He's surprised, and disheartened, when people tell him they feel good about the future. Because John lost the argument, and in recompense he expects, and is hoping, that everyone should feel as cynical and depressed as him. After all, what right have they to feel so hopeful about the future, when John didn't get what he wanted? But thats not really a healthy attitude. Arguing that the UK is a failed state, simply because it wants to leave the EU, is not likely to enthuse anyone. But thats all he's got :'(

@Correctrix I understand the other side. Because rather than assuming they are sad, mad, or bad, I actually listen to their arguments.

@Pobotrol Since then we have had a parliament elected on the promise to respect the referendum result failing to do what they promised. I can understand you might disagree with leaving the EU. I understand your arguments against doing so, although I dont agree with them (or rather, I find them outweighed by the opposing arguments). But I find it difficult to understand your inability to recognise why those who disagree with you on this issue should have a problem when, having won a referendum, the result is simply ignored. The problem with many on the remain campaign is that rather than focus on the issues about why people voted to leave the EU, they decided instead to concentrate on why they thought people voted to leave the EU. It couldn't possibly be because, like people all over the world, those who voted to leave the EU instinctively felt the need to be able to hold those who govern them to account, to know who they are and how to get rid of them, but rather it had to be because they were either sad, mad, or bad. If, rather than listening to what people say, you instead assume their motives to be something other than what they are telling you, and argue against that, then its no wonder you can't understand their thinking.
