  14. The Joint Investigation Team (made up of the Netherlands, Belgium, Ukraine, Australia, and Malaysia) set up to investigate the shooting down of MH17 found Russia guilty. Russia has since vetoed a UN tribunal to bring those responsible to justice. And for all its present problems, Ukraine is a democratic state. Unlike Russia (a terrorist dictatorship willing to use chemical weapons). And, no. Ukraine isn't in NATO. However, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its annexation of Ukrainian territory make that inevitable in the long term.
