  1. So this is because of Brexit? Not a reaction to Islamic terrorism then? She doesn't mention Brexit at all (some bright spark in Channel 4 news decided to make that link for her). But in France and other EU countries they have a ban on wearing the burka in public. Imagine that. A law that tells you what you can and cannot wear on your head when you walk down the street. Is that because of Brexit too? I'd put this one down to 'Islamophobia'. An irrational fear and hatred of Muslims. Something that Channel 4 is guilty of itself. Because along with the rest of the UK's media, channel 4 was too shit scared to show a few cartoons mocking the Muslim prophet Mohammed. And if a great big media organization like Channel 4 fears Islam enough to censor the news, what does that prove to the rest of us?

  2. According to Gallop, there was a massive spike in homophobic hate crime also. But that was based on a survey. Done after the Brexit vote. The Mayor of London’s special webpage actively encouraged people to phone or email about ‘hate crimes' following the referendum result. They specifically asked 'since the referendum'. The Brexit referendum was held on the 23rd June. The Nice attacks happened three weeks later. It is clear that Islamic terrorism has led to a spike in anti-Islamic feeling. Hate crimes against Muslims in London went up from 557 in 2013 to 878 by November 24, 2015. The BBC reported that anti-Islamic hate crimes in London tripled after the Nice attacks. Despite this, Islamic groups in the UK have laid the blame at the feet of the Brexit vote. But then they would, wouldn't they?
