  1. Putin needs to keep the war going in Syria. The Russian economy is tanking and the war helps keep the price of oil from falling any lower. The Russian economy is dependent on its energy sales. And Russian arms sales to the Assad regime also help. Kremlin propaganda attempts to make out that the war in Syria is between Assad and ISIS. This is not true. The Free Syrian Army have done the most to combat the spread of ISIS, while Assad and his puppet master in the kremlin concentrate on the FSA.  Assad and the Russians had peace talks with the FSA in Kazakhstan in January. Proof that they are not simply fighting ISIS. Unless, of course, kremlin propaganda is true. Which would mean Putin and his puppet are negotiating with ISIS?
