  2. There never was any agreement not to expand NATO. That's just kremlin propaganda. China has no interest in going to war with the west over the Baltics. And liberal democracy is expanding not contracting. That's why despots and dictators, like Putin, are so fearful.

  3. And yet you are the one who originally claimed that guarantees were given not to expand NATO eastwards. Despite that fact that this was not the case. You also seem unwilling to acknowledge that countries in the east of Europe have security concerns of their own. Which are not superseded by those of Russia. There was no confrontation between NATO and Russia until Russia invaded and annexed Ukrainian territory. There were no NATO bases in Poland or the Baltics before Russia renewed its aggression towards its neighbours. You ask why NATO expanded east. If you knew anything about eastern European history as regards to Russia, you would already know the reason.

  4. Poland and the Baltic nations joined NATO because they believed it to be in their best interest. And, seeing as how Russia invaded both Georgia and Ukraine, and still occupies Moldova, they clearly made the right decision. As for Ukraine, it will eventually join both NATO and the EU. Putin's actions have guaranteed that will happen some time in the future.
