  1. Watching this, you could almost forget that World War 2 is most often used by EU fanatics to justify the very existence of the European Union. It's to stop another war, they say. Almost as if they expect Germany to invade France if the UK doesnt sign up to the latest demand for ever loser union. Sure, WW2 is imprinted on the collective memories of many European countries. Not least Germany. Who, perhaps because it's in their interest to do so, prefers to believe that it wasn't fascist Germany that made WW2 inevitable, but the very existence of nation states (rather than the lack of democratically accountable government). Then, just as now, EU fanatics used project fear to sell something nobody really wanted. Typical trashy Channel 4 News item.
