Oh, dear. How's it going to look if, having ignored the wishes of UK voters for so long, parliament now obediently votes for something because Donald Tusk tells them to? And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't John Bercow rule out a third vote just a couple days ago? Will he have to revise his ruling? And if so, what does that say about the speaker's impartiality?

@whoknew2273 I'm guessing Bercow is wishing he had waited a couple days!

Thats how I understand it. Unless Bercow suddenly decides that he was wrong just because Donald Tusk demands another vote, rather than the elected PM. Then it would mean all those remain MPs having to vote for something they have continuously voted against. It would be quite a u-turn, that would put May's u-turns in the shade lol

I don't think parliament have the guts to openly go against what the country voted for. They were hoping to close off the option of leaving without a deal, while rejected the negotiated deal in the hope that they would make leaving impossible. But they voted to enact article 50. And May's deal isnt just May's deal. It's the EU's deal too. Thats what they're offering, and they're not about to start negotiations all over again, even if there was time. And there is no time. I can understand the thinking of those MPs who are against the deal because they don't believe it actually delivers on Brexit. They have always said No deal is better than a bad deal. But the remainers in parliament (the majority) have overplayed their hand. And have made no deal an inevitability. Of course, I may be wrong. Parliament might just be stupid enough to vote to overturn article 50. But no matter what they do, they haven't got much time to do it in, and as Tusk has just said, there's no way to extend that time unless they actually accept the deal. In which case, what would be the point in voting to overturn article 50?

UK voters overwhelmingly voted for parties that promised they would respect the referendum result. Yes, parliament voted for something they never had any intention of supporting. That's not Tusk's fault. Any vote is meaningless if, before it is enacted, it can be undone by another vote. We don't have multiple votes after general elections just to make sure people haven't changed their minds before the new government gets into power. And how many referendums are you planning to have anyway? Or are you assuming no more than it takes to deliver the result you want?

Brad Smith Can you see that happening in the next 8 days?
