If the EU are not prepared to negotiate on the Irish border question then they have already torn up the good Friday agreement.

@emm_arr The good Friday agreement says nothing about the UK having to remain within the EU. It commits both sides to preventing the need for a hard border. And as the EU has now taken over that responsibility from the Irish government, the EU is as much committed to upholding the agreement as the UK. This means it needs to negotiate. It cannot simply expect the UK to give in to its demands. By refusing to negotiate, the EU has signalled its intention to ditch the good Friday agreement if the UK does not agree with those demands.

@emm_arr The solution is for both sides to come up with an agreement that is acceptable to the other. The EU has failed to do that. Getting emotional about it doesnt solve the problem.

@emm_arr Once again, there is no reference to the UK having to remain within the EU in the good Friday agreement. You are simply ignoring the unwillingness of one side to negotiate towards preventing a hard border, while blaming the other. The EU is ripping up the good Friday agreement, and they're not even signatories to it. And you're cheering them on, because you believe in political union with the EU.
