  10. Itsnotforourconvenience Despite his 'lectures' going on and on and on for hours, Icke actually has nothing of any substance to say. He's a paranoid narcissist. Or, as many who experience mental breakdowns do, he went through a very grandiose and narcissistic phase. Where he claimed to be the son of the godhead. Icke has a problem with low self esteem. When people reject his nonsensical fantasies (shape-shifting lizards) he reacts badly. But he still demands the limelight. Still see's himself as a new age prophet. This is important, because grand conspiracy theories appeal to paranoid personalities with exaggerated feelings of self-love. 'They are watching me, spying on me' - I am a very important person my words will bring about massive upheaval and change. Icke is also extremely pessimistic. Constantly obsessing about a supposed Orwellian present and future, and how people are controlled (i.e. don't believe his ramblings) and led like sheep unaware that they are slaves of 'the system' (false consciousness - once used by those on the far left to explain away why the masses didn't rise up and install a Marxist dictatorship). And we know low self-esteem predicts negative perceptions of humanity more broadly (if you have a low opinion of yourself, you're hardly likely to be upbeat about those around you or your situation). You might ask can you be a narcissist and have low self-esteem at the same time? The answer is yes. Many extremely narcissistic personalities have very thin skins. I'm sure you can think of at least one very high profile example of this.
