@zer0homer Israel only developed country not have problem of low birth rates
14
Example, in US and UK, it is relatively easy for a young person to find a job thanks to free market policies, but things like college and housing are extremely unaffordable and young people blame right wing, free market policies for that. In contrast, college and housing are a lot more affordable in continental Europe, however, it is much more difficult for young people to find jobs there compared to US and UK thanks to highly protectionist job policies dictated by unions linked to left wing parties thus young people blame left wing there
4
I think young people just tend to vote for the opposite as the parties their parents and grandparents tend to vote for and also against who historically has the institutional power in that country. Also social trends in Anglo countries that are not a thing in non-Anglo countries and also things like housing being a lot more affordable in continental Europe than Anglo countries. In contrast, it is much harder for young people to find jobs in Europe compared to US and UK, as reflected by youth unemployment rates thanks to protectionist union policies with those unions being linked to left wing parties
3
And also how Germany is the country primarily financing all this
2
Austria’s lower at 1.44 compared to 1.61 in UK
2
Mostly Lega Nord supporters migrating over to Fratelli d'Italia
2
Couple of generations is more than 100 years
2
@timogul No, getting replaced demographically
2
@timogul Have you checked demographic trends. Of course it’s going to concern some people
2
Likely because London’s immigrant% of population is much higher than Vienna, especially immigrants from high fertility developing countries
2
Well the French never like their politicians
2
Well Hungary’s seeing their demographics collapse anyways so they’re being hit by the expenses of both
2
Because the left controls the media and the media wants to turn people off from voting for right wing thus they use the term far right to do so
1
Also more expensive housing. That said, easier for younger people to find jobs in US and UK compared to continental Europe by looking at youth unemployment rates
1
@aleksanderrubik. He's a socialist who lives in 3 million dollar homes so he is a hypocrite
1
Like if it’s about the money it should be rich countries have high birth rates poor country have low birth rates yet it’s the opposite
1
Yet Poland still has close to the lowest fertility rate in Europe
1
Due to the US being energy independent unlike EU which is dependent on Russia in that regard
1
Well it’s in fact the countries with history of socialism that have the worst demographic and economic combination that is low birth rates and aging population even as they aren’t rich yet, eg Eastern Europe, Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, etc. Socialism/communism have a long track record of depressing birth rates
1
@andybrice2711 yeah, if it stays below replace, every generation would be smaller than the last
1
Because the Greek left destroyed the Greek economy in the early 2010s
1
Well Italy, is not unique if it votes to not recognize climate change. If it does, it's kind of similar to the US examples of the extremely low lying US states of Florida and Louisiana having a record of constantly electing politicians who don't believe in climate change
1
Well it happened in Italy as well. Also close to happening in Sweden and Finland, and possibly could happen in France and Germany
1
Not to mention, the corresponding immigration surge from high fertility rate countries into Germany during same period could've almost entirely explained the 0.1-0.2 upwards bump
1
Brazil now allows foreign visitors
1
Plus huge influx of illegal immigrants just like what all of Western Europe is facing
1
The thing is, Poland has very low birth rate as well by global standards
1
Meanwhile, a lot of young Europeans are locked out of the job market thanks to left wing, pro-union policies
1
You won't. We had all this talk in 2016 about leftists in the US wanting to go to Canada if Trump wins and they never did
1
Well that’s around 150 countries now I believe
1
Anyone who opposes the left
1
Yet fertility rate in Austria is even lower than Hungary. Didn’t work well for them
1
@pebblepod30 Fertility rate in Vienna last year was just 1.17, which is even lower than most cities with highly unaffordable housing
1
@MA-gu2up Baby boom also in response to the drop in fertility rate during Great Depression, and later WW2, when the men were fighting the war. Economy improved+men came back and during that time, women didn't need to work and birth rates spiked
1
Lke a lot of left wing parties in Scandinavia now want to reduce immigration
1
Well it helps that European work hours are much shorter and education system much less stressful as Korea
1
That’s why China didn’t get a second wave
1
Because Muslims are causing way more problems than people in the other 4 groups
1
Not to mention for developing countries, the ones with the strongest economic growth also has fastest falling fertility rate
1
@diego_1619 Also the establishment parties in Italy are corrupt
1
Yes, demographics are destiny
1
Canada, Australia and New Zealand have multi-party systems, and yet same trend as US and UK
1
France thanks to lots of immigrants from high fertility African countries
