Which is ironic considering in Europe, birth rates are lowest in Catholic southern European countries like Italy, Spain and Portugal

As for Israel, there are religious, cultural and political factors at play, like Jewish religion and culture promoting large families, sense of responsibility to replenish the Jewish population lost in Holocaust, and Israeli government also promoting giving birth in part so that Israel have a lot of young people that is essential for them building a large and strong military

However, Romania’s population is shrinking due to 1.77 still being below replacement, negative migration rates and higher death rates with lower life expectancy than developed countries all mean that period between sub replacement rates and actual decline is significantly shorter than highly developed countries for example

As for rise in fertility before Great Recession, another significant factor is the immigration boom from high birth rate developing nations post 1980s. Now that effect is also wearing off as those communities get more integrated into mainstream American society and there’s less high birth rate countries remaining as immigration sources to begin with. Same rise also happened in other countries that saw immigration boom from high birth rate developing nations over period like France and UK. The baby bump period also saw non-Hispanic white share of US population drop from 90% to 65% for example

@duduchannel6729 And being so wealthy

And that bump, is likely once again delivered by the surge in immigration from high birth rate Muslim countries into Nordics that coincided with the period and now the effect is dropping off

@andrewlechner6343 And in contrast with cultures of developing world, they have low religiosity(thus lack religious cause) and high levels of education(including among women), and living spaces in those countries tend to be extremely small and those 4 factors and furthermore stressful education and work schedules and those 5 factors create the perfect storm for ultra low birth rates

Low birth rate ethnic Russians left and turning back to Islam after state atheism ended

Or go to a third world country where women there gravitate towards anyone who’s a citizen of a developed country
