  13.  @Wozza365  I guess the British rust belt cities being a lot safer than American rust belt cities also has to do with how appealing they are for people to move back to and reinvest. Sure British rust belt cities may be lacking in jobs and run down, but at least it’s walkable and there aren’t frequent shootouts on the streets like US rust belt

  44. Older neighborhoods have corner stores. Newer neighborhoods just tend to have strip malls instead as developers who want to maximize profits know that strip malls have better reputation than corner stores

Across the developed world, the places with stable or falling housing costs tend to be places with declining population like Germany, Italy, Japan, central European countries, US rust belt, etc
