Large city=huge percentage are not locals, but sure, that's where they congregate

A lot of them were shot before plastic surgery became popular in China

Well every country seem to have stereotypes about x region of their country, etc

Also you just went to the Mainland province most similar to Taiwan

@77.88. Chengdu isn't that cold in winter

@michaels4255 There's even more similarities. Civil wars having erupted before between north and south

Second part, many people from other provinces have moved to Guangdong and opened restaurants serving their hometown cuisines there which plays a part as well
1
Seems like both Beijing and Shanghai have arrogant locals stereotype

But China has 4 times the population, and less inhabitable land due to China being far more mountainous, so China is far more densely populated

Like how Cantonese butchers tend to hang small animals in full from ceiling instead of having them cut up already and if you order a whole one, they unhook it and hand you it in full without cutting

Not true. Russia and Scandinavia are freezing cold yet have some of the hottest girls, lots of tropical countries barely have any hot girls

@diqiuren Like someone did video practicing Shanghainese with locals in Shanghai where he(someone trying to learn the language but speaks it at decent level already) tries to talk to people on a pretty crowded street in Shanghainese and most people did not understood him

Theory is that Guangdong is far south, and surrounded by mountains to the north keeping it insular meaning that the language that derived ended up being closer to Ancient Chinese than further north where the languages saw more influence from invading tribes

I've heard generally older people in traditionally non-Mandarin speaking speaking parts of China tend to have thick accents. Generally goes like this. People under 30 tend to barely have accents, 30-45 slight accent, 45-60 moderate accent and 60+ tend to have thick accent
