  1.  @D3rbedeul  the increase may be due to-boredom from staying home, large protests, and weather getting warmer-actually getting very hot in the sun belt region. Also, americans do wear mask(61% report doing so, higher than uk and sweden, where masks are still rare, and similar to most continental european countries, but lower than east asian countries like south korea(96%), and hong kong(99%)). it is required in most major cities, including nyc, boston, los angeles, san francisco, and they do social distance.

  4. @CastAirLead then why have east asian countries like south korea, japan, hong kong and taiwan fared so much better, when they also theoretically have a perfect storm of factors that they share with the uk-very dense(even more dense than uk), elderly population(even older population than uk), huge amount of tourism and other travel from china, and also around the world.

  7. germany also got lucky that the virus hasn't really hit nursing homes. Also they have so many icu beds and ventilators available(far more per capita then uk, france, italy, spain), that could save lives

  8. well they have a higher population. Per capita, uk has a higher death rate. Also uk only counts hospital deaths, while usa atributes all deaths in people that have tested positive for covid 19, no matter the location of death, even if cause of death may be something unrelated. UK has undercounted, while usa has overcounted
