There is no way there is enough water for a city of any size, and particularly not a city in a desert. It is simply a ludicrous claim that it was a large, prominent city going back to the time of Abraham. It could never have been an ancient city in that place, with such a pitiful water source. But even if one believed there was a city that was prospering for hundreds of years up until the 7th century, where is the evidence for that? What archaeological evidence is there, such as old coins, broken pottery, inscriptions, old foundations from the buildings and city walls, etc. There is nothing. If you take a comparison to Jerusalem, then they find new material all the time that confirms the written history. When they dig in mecca, all they find is sand. The islamic claims for mecca simply don't hold water!
