  1. It should also be remembered that US General Pershing tried very hard to discredit Monash over the fact that the US troops had participated at Hamel under Monash's command. Pershing's dedication in Washington fails to mention the battle and credits another battle as the US soldier's first engagement on the WF.

  3. I had been made aware of this some time back. It is significant in as much as Murdoch had taken his disagreement with Monash to Billy Hughes when he visited. Had he been listened to it could have been the end for Monash. It can be imagined what would have happened after that with the great thinking of Monash shoved aside all because of a hate filled racist war correspondent. I believe Murdogh's knighthood should have been rescinded if this is true.
