And Brock's earlier HDT co-driver was Colin Bond.

Chev Monzas were part of the scene in Oz in early 80's. The one driven by Allan Grice in the Sports Car category was amongst the best in class. Humongous flared guards, monsterous rear wing that overhung back and a shovel nosed front that could have seen it work as a snow plough. Could not race as production car as insufficient were sold.

@damianm3786 Those Falcon Hardtop Cobras did look brilliant and the finish Moff and Bond staged will probably never be seen again. I did think the Cobras lacked originality given their livery was a direct copy of the Shelby Mustangs in the US at the time. Shelby had stolen the concept of the Cobra name from the AC Cobra made in UK but modified in US.

In 1966 race Morris Cooper S's (1275cc) finished in the top nine positions outright and in Class C. A Morris Cooper (998cc) finished 12th outright and first in class B..also 2nd and 3rd in class. Morris 850 and Morris Mini deluxe were in class A and finished. All were not same as today's Minis.

How about going back to the start of the race at Bathurst and follow up on how special vehicles were literally hand blueprinted for the Armstrong 500. The amazing Morris Cooper S's (modified by John Cooper of Cooper works in England fame) that absolutely dominated the race in 1966 to the point where organisers changed rules for the following year. But the first three races produced wins by highly modified Ford Cortina Mark 1 GT / GT500 similar in concept to the famous English Lotus Cortinas. This was before Harry Firth left Ford for HDT. Also an interesting fact not reported here is that the very first year of the Toranas (1967) saw a four cylinder verson named in respect of Sir Jack Brabham who had won the World Formula One Championship in 1966. Sir Jack did this in a car he fully designed and he used an Australian engine engineered by Repco. That car was designated a Repco Brabham. Jack's sons have raced in USA and driven at the Bathurst race.

The 1970, 1971 and 1972 Hardie Ferodo 500 races did not have co-drivers. Moffat won in Phase 2 in 70 and a Phase 3 in 71 while Brocky famously won in the LJ XU1 in 72.

I can see a bit of the Goggomobile Dart in there too.

You will find Firth's name listed four times as a winner / co driver between 1961-67. He WAS Ford before setting up HDT thereafter. Firth retired and was replaced at HDT by John Sheppard.
