@johnd8892 As I recall, the contention was not the speeds the vehicles would attain in the hands of professional drivers on the track but the fact that these vehicles would potentially end up in the hands of unskilled buffoons ten years later on.

Moffat drove a 6000cc variant called a Falcon Cobra Hardtop in 1978.

@andrewforbes146 They were required to race with the braking arrangements that were sold with th showroom vehicle. Front dicsc / rear drums had been commonplace from the first Bathurst 500.

The 1971 car above ran in class E whereas the 1972 car was a class D. Classes were decided on price at floor. Definitely has the smaller spoiler on above '71 car. Both cars DNF in either year failing early in races so spoiler was of no help...

Not quite...that Button time is unofficial being done on a closed session. The official lap record, from a race or official practice session for a race, is 1:59.2910 set during a Challenge Bathurst event in 2018, driving a derestricted Audi R8 Ultra GT3 car.

No..Moffat did not always drive Fords.He won the Bathurst race in a Mazda RX7 in 82 & 83 in Clas C and he also drove for HDT at one time with Peter Brock. No denying the track was a public road in those days and from around 1937 but today it is a racetrack where the homeowners and public can access. Whoelse noticed that some of the vision here was done by a cameraman sticking his camera above the cabin of a car...it comes in when Moff is speaking at the wheel. You can see the shadow as vehicle approaches the Esses. Cleearly different vision that is spliced into the final produce. Also this was shot at non practice times....notice some public vehicles move over as he goes through....Hmmmmm

AND...in 1987 a team named Moffat Enterprises raced a VL Holden Commodore SS GP..A at the famous Spa circuit in Belgium. It finished 4th. outright and 1st. in Class completing 468 laps. Moff drove with co-drivers Johnny Harvey and Tony Mulvihill. A year earlier at the same venue a HDT entered VK Commodore driven by PB, Moff and Harvey raced completing over 410 laps.

@MDCDiGiPiCs The Torana LH was called a SL/R 5000 for a reason...they had a 5000cc / 308CI Holden engine made in Australia.
