Don't get trapped like so many comments here in the belief that Sydney is a dump...it is unique with a Harbour (Aussie spelling) that can be accessed all over with magical ferry services to brilliant recreational facilities. Also excellent public transport to most places by low cost trains and buses. Good light rail close to CBD. Look into an Opal Card. If you like National Parks the second oldest one on the planet (after Yellowstone) is in Sydney' south..Royal National Park. Centennial Park on perimeter of CBD. Electric train ride to the Katoomba and the world famous Blue Mountains with the amazing Megalong and Grouse Valleys and the Kanangra Walls. Also take train to south coast day trip to Wollongong or Kiama for some of the best coastal scenery anywhere. People who say it's a dump simply don't have a clue.

  2. The beautiful vision of the yacht sailing past Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour shows an historic Aussie contender for the America's Cup, Spirit (AUS21). So that means the 21st we built to trial or compete when it was raced using the 12 metre category. Australia was the first nation / challenger to get the NYYC to unbolt the Cup they had posession of for over 130 years. The oldest trophy in world sport.

  4. Victorians are well known for their ability to walk around with their heads firmly planted up their arses. They are generally pissed off because Melbourne's population is smaller than Sydney and their whole State is hardly bigger than Greater Sydney They get good crowds at their sporting events in winter because it's so bloody cold they flock together like their penguins to keep warm.
