  2. Baseball has many common lines to the English village sport of Rounders...few commonalities to cricket. But, most of the improvements that have gone into cricket since the popularisation of the ODI and T20 games have come directly from baseball. Teams employing baseball coaches for fielding etc.

  3. There have been MANY National cricketers who have played baseball at a high level. Ian was a catcher for South Australia. An old photograph of the 1948 Bradman team on display in the Long Room at the MCG shows the whole team in baseball uniforms after playing a friendly. The great Victor Trumper played baseball with the Paddington Club in his off season.

  5. Alan Davidson, who passed away yesterday, was from a family that could field a complete cricket team in local competition in the 1950's.

  7. Australi has had over 40 players contracted to MLB teams over the last 40 years and over 100 players playing with NCAA teams. There are also many playing with best teams in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, France, Italy. etc. We have had a National League since 1989 and there arre thousands of kids playing Little League and T Ball. Not bad for a sport that did not take offf.

  8. Yes, Liam Hendricks is amongst our latest to play in MLB although he had some time with OA's. We have had around 40 play at the MLB level going back to a man who played in the pre MLB days around 1895. Hendricks' fellow West Australian Graeme Lloyd is a World Series winning pitcher with NYY back in mid 90's. As with basketball numerous players also play with NCAA teams. We have had an Australian League since 1989 with strong ties to MLB and affiliated teams with exchange players. Won Silver Medal at Athens Olympics.
