  1. Everybody who wants to "bring back the biff" in whatever the sport should be made to watch vision of the great Mohammed Ali in the final years of his life. So sad to see the brilliance of that man end up the way it did.

  2. Rugby Union..15 players per team (plus bench) on the field at any one time / scrums that are meaningful and two additional "breakawy" forwards. At elite / international level the two teams would have packs with a weight of around one tonne each in the scrum. RU has more stoppages in play but does not have the tackle (6 downs) limits of RL. CAn be really technical with many "phases" of continuous play (providing stoppage isn't needed for injury). RL is `13 players per team plus bench, six tackles but tends to be more predictable. Both codes have become faster with more agile players. Sometimes attributed to the much faster games of Sevens and Touch football which uses 7 / 9 players over only half the playing time.

  3. By current standards that first hit being admired would be penalised...leading with the shoulder or "shoulder charge" has been stamped out. Any contact with the head or the doubling over of the head / neck in a (crusher) tackle is also penalised. A lot is being done following litigation in the US game and administrators have taken note and coming down heavily.

  4. Here is a thought for you. You will find a number of RU games played between the All Blacks and the USA Eagles in your back yard at Soldier Field. Have a look and compare rules and take note of the size of the RU marked field as opposed to the normal NFL field.
