It was originally round and was made from pure silver until our boffins found the silver was worth more than the coin and was fast disappearing to profiteers. Was changed to Copper / Nickel.alloy soon after. The ten dollar note has an image of an iconic Australian named Andrew Barton Paterson whose pen name was Banjo Paterson. About our best ever writer in the later 1800's and in World War 1.Also wrote many great poems so if you want to learn some Aussie culture read up on his most famous poems "The Man from Snown River" and "Clancy of the Overflow.. Banjo also wrote the words of our most recognisable song..."Waltzing Matilda". Each of our notes in the collection has portraits of very famous Aussies.
