  1. There is some common ground between these beautiful Snowy Mountains on our Great Dividing Range and your home City of Chicago. The roof of Australia is called Mount Kosciuszko (correctly pron. koz-you-sko but we do not get it right as we say kozzy-oss-ko) ) named after a famous Polish national and explorer. It was so named by another Polish explorer Sir Paweł Edmund Strzelecki for whom the famous Strzelecki Track and Desert in Central Australia are named. Now if you go down to near Soldier field and walk along East Solidarity Drive to the Planetarium on the shores of Lake Michigan you will find a beautiful monument to Thaddeus Kosciuszko with recognition of his achievements.
