@SM-gc4kq Do you honestly believe that the Captain of the visiting team would even contemplate making the comment in front of the dignatories plus a crowd of over 125K in attendance if it was not warranted? The evidence shows that the Indian supporters are not supporters of the game of cricket but rather supporters of INDIAN cricket.

Our ANZAC mates from across the ditch did a bloody good job of playing under extenuating circulstances too...

@SHH885 What a load of crap...the Indian spectators showed absolutely NO appreciation of any aspects of Australia's play during this game and then vacated the stadium on the presentation. An absolutely pathetic display of sportsmanship if ever there was one. Shameful. It is one thing to be patriotic and another to appreciate sportsmanship. Look at the vision.

@@SHH885 Bribed the ICC? ...man, you should be writing comics. The ICC is primarily driven in India.

@timblizzard4226 Yes, there were about 10-20 and they were wearing Australian shirts.

For those who are not aware, this term "Spirit of the game" is actually explained and documented in the MCC Laws of Cricket as a preamble to the Laws. It should be read by everyone BEFORE making comment on what they think it means. One quality identified in it is the showing of respect to the umpires by accepting their decisions...Perhaps the preamble, or at least parts of it, could be documented as a Code of Conduct for supporters of the game also.

An umpire calls "over" for a reason...it signifies the ball becomes dead.Applies in junior cricket through to the very top.

@ontheslide2339 It would help your cause, and knowledge, if you learned the actual origins. When you do you will find it is as old as the game and attributed to the great Doctor W.G.Grace.

The Laws of Cricket require the umpire to call "over" and this should happen when the ball is thrown by keeper or fielder back to the bowler. Over should be called and thus the ball becomes dead. It becomes alive when the next delivery is made.If Bairstow did not know this he has wasted a lot of time on a cricket field.
