Kudos for taking every possible opportunity to say “tasty period”.

@robertsmith4681 that has already happened. It’s partially why they did the mobilization: ran out of throw-away humans.

@pontificate2090 the fact you think anyone is asking you to apologize “for being Canadian” is hilarious.
19
spindletea 😂 you got me good
15
Russian history is basically “and then it got worse”, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
12
The woman in the audience who yawns at the end of his insane song legit had me choking on my lunch. lol
10
@crabluva Poe’s law, man. Some Americans really do think Biden is trying to exterminate them.

The formal name of this fallacy is “tu quoque”, or “you also [do it]”. The USSR was famous for pointing out the poor treatment of African Americans in the US when criticized for Soviet human rights violations, as if unrelated human rights violations by the criticizing party were exculpatory. It’s a mental trick that asks you to lower your expectations by 1) attempting to decrease the standard of moral behavior and 2) framing hypocrisy as a valid retort.
8
@pontificate2090 at least you picked an appropriate PFP.

Yes. Social media makes no distinction between informed opinions and hot takes from morons. They are both given the same weight. To the point that I know there is someone out there who’s going to read this and point and laugh at me saying I just swallow whatever the mainstream media wants me to believe. And to that person I say you should probably read some Susan Sontag, because every presentation of media, even taking a vacation photo for yourself, comes with an agenda. You are not immune. And there’s always a chance that your “unique” take doesn’t mean you’re rejecting a big lie for a big truth, but that your basis for that belief is uninformed garbage.

@marktuyet getting mad at your own brain for something you made up 😆
5
I’m halfway through and this feels like 50% taking outrage cooking tiktoks seriously and 50% shitting on poor people. Come on, be better than this.
4
The people who complain about the post office usually live in flyover shitholes where, if the post office WAS completely privatized, they’d be crying that it costs $20 to send a single invitation to their brother and sister’s wedding.
4
This. Exposing yourself to rot makes you rot.
4
Just give these people a steam account with CK3 on it, you’ll never hear from them again lol
3
@MrCarGuy no, they didn’t.
3
The vanilla ones probably taste artificial because they are. Vanillin, the main component of vanilla extract, is artificially synthesized for fake vanilla extract as it’s way cheaper. It also doesn’t taste like the real thing if you’ve had it.
3
@marcobelli6856 JFC dark 😂
3
@manfredconnor3194 I didn’t say there aren’t poor people in America. I said a lot of Americans make a conscious choice not to travel. That presumes the ability to do so.

FYI these DNA test kits are mostly bullshit. They make inferences about data with an alpha value of as low as 50%, which from a scientific perspective is complete shit. John Oliver did an entire episode about how they’re basically a money grab at affluent ethnomajorities who want to feel like they have special ancestry.
2
Dude looks like Wish Ben Shapiro
2
Conservatives love authoritarianism because it’s the only way to stop young people from changing anything culturally in an organic way: by imposing a lack of change. That’s literally all it is.

Did Ukraine just up and murder a bunch of Russian families one day? 🤔 Is Ukraine telling its citizens to shelter in place in an active war zone knowing their deaths will make great propaganda? 🤔 Did Ukraine gun down a couple hundred festival attendees, many of whom weren’t even Russian? 🤔 Is Ukraine holding 200+ foreign hostages and threatening to kill them if Russia doesn’t withdraw? 🤔
2
I’ve been thinking about doing a vlog from downtown Portland, OR on my way home from work because the more I commute that route, the more I’m convinced even Americans who live 20 miles away but watch Fox News don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. People living in Russia who haven’t left their hometown must think we live in holes dug out of mountains of cold ash.
2
They deliberately tried to sanction bust and now they’re salty about getting caught? Lol cry more.
2
No need to say “fake psychics”. Just “psychics” is inclusive enough.
2
@lollsazz that may be how science works, but it’s not how human belief works. James Randi did some public tests of this with magic tricks. The audience members who had science backgrounds were more prone to believing their explanation of how the trick was performed was correct with little evidence for it. Their ability to come up with explanations made them more vulnerable to believing them.
2
Roman, I am super proud of you for following up on your distaste for your past cringe by confronting it in the context of propaganda. This is a maturity of mind most people can’t quite stomach. Anyone who proudly goes around saying “if I grew up under xyz regime, I would have resisted” or “I never would have fallen for this or that propaganda because I’m Mr. hyper-rational”… I recommend they read “The Fall” by Albert Camus. No person is immune to propaganda. In fact a belief that one is immune probably makes them more vulnerable to it.
2
Dude is only firing on like 2 cylinders and still more likeable than 99% of politicians.
2
The mask isn’t for you. The mask is for them. You wear a mask to stop yourself from spreading virons, not to prevent breathing them in. That said, tragedy of the commons in action as usual.
2
It’s bananas to watch Putin rail against Ukraine’s “nazi” government while turning into a fascist regime itself. Accuse the enemy of that which you are guilty.
2
@vaenii5056 in the words of that fat guy in HBO’s Chernobyl: “yesterday I worked in a shoe factory. Now I am in charge.”
2
@manfredconnor3194 JFC you’re exhausting
2
@manfredconnor3194 well you’re bad at it. You put words in my mouth, then spent a whole book explaining my own country to me.
2
4XDf2lrMIoU I was skeptical too but this is open and shut. Bald is a POS and openly brags about it. You are well rid of him Roman.
2
@memoranda1 yes if only Ukraine had rolled over like a bitch and taken it, none of this would have happened. Do you hear yourself?
2
This guy definitely not thai, so i guess he’s DiFfErEnT

Man, I feel exactly what you’re feeling around 8:30 as an American. I am super into prop aviation. I love old airplanes. And one of the only ways to see them in the US is to go to air shows. And inevitably, that shit is super conservative and super cringe patriotic. My eyes roll back into my head when they ask people to stand for the national anthem. Just fucking let me see the cool planes, bro. America has maintained the Pax Americana by enforcing the economic global rules-based order, but to say any American soldier after 1945 (or arguably, 1865) has actively defended our freedom, is a joke.
1
Wonder woman’s critiques are meant to recast the ideological conflict between capitalism and communism as a cipher and an excuse for male power struggle.
1
You are MEANT to question Luthor’s “benevolence” and “let’s all come together” speech, given his past actions. The ending is a tongue in cheek criticism of American exceptionalism, not praise of it.
1
When I tell other Americans that kids saying the pledge in school is weird ass propaganda, everybody looks at me funny. And Putin’s Russia is just now starting this. Lol
1
I love that there is an idiomatic phrase for "dogshit on the road in spring". XD
1
@ke1-chkpg651 running a popular YouTube channel (a banned platform in Russia) where you call Putin’s joyride a “war” and generally shit on him is enough to put you in prison in Russia. Sounds dangerous to me…
1
The purpose of good propaganda is not to make you believe a lie, but to murder the idea of truth as a concept. That’s why Russia’s insane “news” reporting is so effective. Most Russians probably realize they’re being lied to. But when everything you’re told is a lie, the brain gets overwhelmed and gives up on the idea of ever discovering what is actually happening. The point is not to turn you into a zealot; that’s just a happy side effect. The point is to defeat you mentally. To depoliticize you. To make you stop caring.
1
Nothing says “our country rejects the culture of America and the West” quite like a bunch of lily-white Russian children throwing their hands around like black American rappers.
1
I love how that “digital nomad” prick just blatantly staged a photo with half a dozen hot women in rapt attention to his PowerPoint presentation 😆
1
Russia was in disarray during the scramble for Africa so African countries never experienced its colonialism. Their willingness to overlook Russian atrocities outside Africa in exchange for more benign support within their own countries belies this. The same reason so many African countries are willing to get into debt traps with China in exchange for infrastructure projects. Their thinking is "well, at least Xi Jinping isn't King Leopold and look at the shiny new port we got!"

@texaswunderkind 💯
1
@FatDataUnicorn education and intelligence can make a person even more susceptible to propaganda. Because those people are generally more practiced at rationalizing beliefs.
1
@Mastakilla91 yeah, westerners are more prone to propaganda than a country of over 100M that’s been completely depoliticized by post truth state owned media. Sure. 😆
