@gregorymalchuk272 I suspect this professor of war strategy has a better grip on Putin’s deescalation options than you do. And she can give reasons to back up her claim. Primary among them, if your divine right to power is based only on strength, failure to prevail in the exercise of that strength leaves you with no option to retreat. He can only escalate or attempt to conceal his retreat as more strength.

This woman deserved a better interviewer. Some of these questions were 6th grade spitballing nonsense.

@anon1152 North Korea is NOT stupid. The combination of an information blackout and completely batshit foreign policy is part of a very smart strategy to leverage unpredictability as a counter to what we strongly suspect is a very fragile system. Would the casualties and consequences to South Korea in the event of a nuclear (or even conventional) exchange be horrific? Absolutely. But DPRK is operating with, at best, 1980s tech. Some of their materiel dates to the late 1950s. They would very likely get their shit kicked in. By projecting a stance of insanity, they are daring South Korea and the Western allies to call their bluff. And given the potential consequences, it has so far been an effective strategy.

@anon1152 yes, it is. It’s hyper paranoid and meant to telegraph that NK believes it is always on the verge of being invaded and will act accordingly, despite zero external evidence that is the case.

@tidakada7357 yes. It’s amazing how much the life expectancy went up when you take out all the zeroes, ones, and twos.
