It also works as Russia is producing at full capacity and selling to India and China, and Europe is buying the slack from the energy market that India and China might have been forced to buy had Russia reduced capacity, therefore it can be assumed that Russia cannot afford to cut capacity, but that doesn't mean at some point in the future that they might not, they did start a destructive war after all, however by 2030-2035 Europe will be majorly powered by renewables and Russia's most profitable market will be lost forever!?!

EU got bigger problems, Germany in the future not being able to bankroll them being number 1 (They have to pay market rates for energy and increase defense budget 100%, also infrastructure development over 20 years for LNG and Nuclear), Italy, Spain, Greece number 2 (That just means they are a load of cr&p economically speaking!) Britain will do an Economic deal but NOT a political one (Even the EU must realise by now that political union is a non starter, just ask Hungary for one!), EU also has different factions East/ West - North/ South. Also, and it's a big one always touted by the EU, it DIDN'T stop a war in Europe, and the US and UK did more in the aftermath than the ineffectual EU (I think they were hoping Ukraine would roll over so they could keep their cheap Russian energy with their blood money {My precious - They are still hoping to keep it, they will never learn})

  8. @Orsino We are doing fine without the E.U. and, if the right decisions are made with energy, which finally it looks like we are doing with nuclear and renewables, we will be in a good place. Remember Germany, Italy etc. crashed the European energy market by being reliant on Russia energy, that caused the biggest crisis since World War 2. Germany will be paying more money for defence and energy from now on, so less money for E.U. Which major European country does not have a chequered past, but do not forget that this little island built the biggest empire the world has ever seen!?!

  9. The road part is not open until September at the earliest, the train part might be reopened but it may not be for heavy equipment just light cargo, so it's still a good result, if not Ukraine try again until successful, Russia is just not getting the message at present, get out!?!

  12.  @johndoe-cd9vt  There are pluses and minuses for nuclear powered aircraft carriers, the U.K. decided to use conventional power, it does not mean we do not know how to build nuclear reactors, it just didn't fit in with our requirements. The French have the biggest navy at present over the U.K., but the U.K. is rebuilding its navy over a 20 year period which is half way through with an upgraded fleet, which when completed will be more modern and capable, but still be less in number!?!

  14.  @hovera7946  Good for China, but I doubt it, if they wanted to defeat Ukraine's "NATO" force why not supply Russia with weapons, perhaps because it biggest export market is U.S. and Europe and China knows what would come next. Russia's energy market supports the whole economy, and a reduction in Energy is a reduction to the whole economy, it's not just a slight inconvenience, it's a major problem which they cannot sustain in the long run, unless China wants to bail them out with trillions of Dollars or even more Trillions of Yuan in support, the choice is "yours"!?!

  15. Russia has already proven how unprepared parts of Europe are to contagion when a State decides to pursue its own murderous agenda. China supports the Barbaric Russians in a two horse race which has the effect of a genocidal war in Europe, it is a strange situation when it has to be pointed out the war is not in the US but in Europe, but somehow Europe wants to continue trade for some unfathomable reason, it might be that at present it is reliant on China and Europe needs to reshore and diversify, this should be carried out within 5 years and that might be to long, the Chinese trade model is broken beyond repair, delay at your peril, Europe needs to be more resilient but at present parts of Europe would rather deal with Russia and China than the other parts of Europe, that is the real challenge going forward, I am not filled with confidence that they have a strategic plan!?!

Offical Russian figures do not even add up with the information they provide, the Rouble has fell by 40 to 50% and inflation is less than the US or Europe is impossible, its estimated inflation rate is 60%, it has also increased its none energy revenues by a corresponding amount to what it has lost on its energy revenues (Joe Blogs) with no explanation of where the extra revenue came from, it has cut back on refined crude exports as well recently!?!

  33.  @joeyjojojrshabadoo7462  The energy price has gone up in Europe, I have had to get up from my armchair and turn the thermostat down and put a blanket on, when I was younger I didn't feel the cold much, it isn't a big deal, it's just a further discomfort in the Winter, businesses are being hit hard by high energy costs and hopefully they will get some relief, by 2035 renewables will be 75% of the energy supplied and generated in our own backyard, so goodbye to Autocrats!?!

  37. ​ @johansmifthelry9307  The past is a different country, France (....and Germany) distanced themselves Initially from the Russia's barbaric aggression in Europe and had to be dragged kicking and screaming to support Ukraine, even though the war was financed by Europe, France and Germany visiting China has been used by China as a division in US/ Europe relationships to further their aggression on Tawain, China using force to take over Tawain will be a step to far and should be strongly discouraged, Europe will be made to take sides if this happens and most of Europe will choice alliance with the US, regardless of what France does. Macron and other European leaders (Excluding Russia) should unite Europe into one cohesive unit under the NATO umbrella, so that they are not seen as a joke (Russia is the biggest joke but that is by the bye), they should have an economic union, but political union is dead, Hungary proves it, Germany proves it and now France proves it!?!

  39. OPEC (..and OPEC+) is a hostile energy cartel, with only the producers interest at heart. Russia's war in Ukraine has triggered an energy crisis in Europe as Russia tried to blackmail Europe from applying sanctions which has been a spectacular backfire as Europe will not buy energy from Russia in the foreseeable future. Obviously this has caused Europe problems in the short term while they make alternative arrangements, but by 2023 this problem will be mostly mitigated, but energy will cost 5 to 10% more overall. By 2035 Europe will be mostly powered by renewables and New Nuclear (Germany are dragging their feet on New Nuclear so they might go down the renewables route but this does not sustain heavy industry) when carbon will take a back seat in that continent. The price cap should work or the spectre of secondary sanctions will be pushed forward to the price cap breakers, so it is only in Russia's interest not to have a price cap (Some OPEC countries buy Russia Crude, refine it and sell it as their quota, so they are earning extra revenue that way)!?!

BREXIT was a greater blessing for the U.K. "Majority", E.U. is going to find it tough as the German "Powerhouse" has to pay market rates for energy and increase it's defence to proper levels = Less money for E.U., that's why Macron is talking to Putin, so he hopes for a settlement (Fat chance - That boat is gone) to avert France from paying in more!

  45. ​ @effexon  The UK MP's and House of Lords are different, the House of Lords can reject a bill entirely or for amendment, but if the MP's reject the House of Lords directive, the House of Lords generally give way as they are not elected by the people but nominated by parliament, the Prime Minster has some prerogative powers on very grey areas!?!

  47. ​ @AdonisGaming93  Germany is not burning lignite because the US told it to do so, it is doing it because it has loads of lignite (Unfortunately). Germany is not building New Nuclear because the US told it to do so, it's because of "its" perceived dangers of using Nuclear, even though lignite on average causes more deaths than Nuclear. The US warned Germany about being dependent on Russian Energy and Germany ignored it, so it is highly unlikely that Germany is a vassal state to the US. Similar to France which always promotes its own interests over others when it has no mandate to do so. Both of these powers should be replaced in the EU as the "Powerhouse" as they have just led a merry dance to insignificance on the World Stage as they have divided Europe for their own ends!?!

  48.  @Grant80  They will retake the 2022 invaded land first, North and South, then the Himars will be able to hit every target in Donbas and Crimea, starting with the logistics and in time Russia won't have a choice, well not a battlefield choice anyway, they could go nuclear, but that would mean, most probably, it's total destruction, as the West would act in a way that would be totally unjustifiable to the Russians, and they don't like being deterred, so things will further escalate!?!

  49. ​ @Homer-OJ-Simpson  France and German led EU, but their axis is crumbling under their inactivity towards Russia at the start of the Ukraine war like it wasn't happening in Europe, and their general laggardness afterwards, it is with little suprise that France cannot see the danger in a petulant and hostile China towards Tawain and how that might be disastrous for Europe at present because as with its dependency on Russian Energy and it's subsequent scramble to an alternative, Europe is also heavily reliant on Chinese and Taiwanese exports, it should reshore critical industries like the US and diversify out of China to be less reliant, but that should have happened last year. The UK government has made some mistakes recently (But is getting its act together at present, the pound is worth 1.24 usd) but support for Ukraine was not one of them and the UK has signed a defence treaty with Japan to help with Asian security, along with US and Australia for AUKUS security, this is a better way of providing peace rather than bolting up your doors and hoping it will go away, if Mainland Europe had a credible force and not reliant on Russian energy then Russia might not have invaded Ukraine, for which Ukraine is paying a rather high price!?!
