@benchoflemons398 Europe is going into a mild recession after two once in a Hundred year events (COVID and War in Ukraine, which caused a crisis due to a foolish energy dependence on Russia). In a couple of years most things will be back on track and hopefully Europe will make it more resilient to Autocrats which seem to be the problem. China has more systemic problems but the C.C.P. is both poacher and gamekeeper so it will be a slow puncture to the new normal!?!

@everythingisfine9988 If American navy only does it own trade other countries will just co-operate with each other and this will not work out well for America as part of the Pacific will be dominated by China. Europe has had navies since I don't know when, but well before America was formed!?!

@willywonka4340 U.S. demographic is 1.664 (2021) less than the 2.1 required, but not as bad as China or Japan!?!

When Peter says Europe, I put in Germany. Europe does have an energy problem, but this can be rectified by 25% nuclear 60% wind and 15% for the rest, this will alleviate the energy problem to a more sustainable footing and on the present path will be completed by 2035 with regard to wind energy, however Germany is dragging its feet on nuclear, so it will still be dependant on carbon in a hostile market for the foreseeable future. Once the energy problem is sorted a lot of the heavy manufacturing can be upscaled in Europe. The U.S. uses a lot of stuff and the labour is expensive so they are not going to make it all, therefore international trade will be needed to supply "all" their needs, quite a number of items in Europe are specialists so they will need that also. If the Continent of Europe can get its economic hat on, all things are fixable, the E.U. is the biggest drawback to that as it wants political union and that is dead in the water!?!

I don't see the present the U.S. gave or took from Europe, anything we had from the U.S. we had to pay for, it seems that it can only be about defence and that budget is not going down anytime soon if you trade on your own or internationally, so I'm a bit flummoxed!?!
2
@everythingisfine9988 We pay our own way, it's just a Wider West against the Autocrats at the minute, but I hope your not counting on a reduction to the U.S. military budget, it's not going to happen whether you trade internationally or not!?!

@nd15music73 The old man hasn't been invaded since 1066!?!
2
@Kyle_Fall The E.U. is not politically united, that is the biggest problem, it went away from its economic roots to ideology and that don't pay wages!?!
1
@MoraqVos The E.U. could be a bigger market if it dropped its political ideology which is dead in the water!?!
1
@MoraqVos The E.U. is full of red tape, 16 pages of tripe to import a sandwich!?!
1
@bighands69 E.U. influence has decimated Europe!?!
1
@cletushatfield8817 Mainland Europe and the U.S. have significant differences, so there is no real direct comparison, if you feel inferior or superior that would seem to be your problem, and don't go to China or Russia they apparently hate you!?!

@nathancochran4694 U S. and the allies thankfully achieved victory in the two "World Wars", the U.S. didn't do it on its own, and most of Europe didn't want a war either!?!
1
@cletushatfield8817 The Allies including the U.S. fortunately won the World Wars, the U S. didn't do it on its own. Germany is the Keystone at present which is due to the decisions they have made since the war, it doesn't mean that they will remain the driving force in Europe (They have the worst demographic for a large European Country), as this will change over time. Europe has more in common with North America than most other continents, so I don't see a conflict in the future between the two continents, and trade will continue!?!

@protorhinocerator142 The U.S. has high debt because it spends more than it gets in taxes, and it's not really spent on other countries, it mostly spent on the U.S., it is therefore no good blaming others!?!

@zopEnglandzip Except if they are Autocratic!?!
