@LRRPFco52 Moore's Law can be applied to anything (Although it did "originally" refer to chips) it's just a basic guiding principle not a scientific fact, and power generation technology has advanced and will advance!?!

Nuclear should primarily be used for baseload power generation, renewables especially wind will be the main power generator, solar needs to work when the sun doesn't shine because most countries can't reap the full benefit from that, the biggest technical problem at present is storing power economically at scale, lithium doesn't seem to be the answer to that, also loss of power in transmission lines needs addressing but if the power is basically free once set up and abundant it's not so much of an issue!?!

@thecustodian1023 There is failure and success, there is no guarantee on which "new" projects work as there are numerous factors at work some of which are outside the projects control, it does not mean that projects should stop it just means they require more robust planning and even in failure lessons can be learned, carbon is a finite supply, its production was stopped in the carboniferous period and ended 300 million years ago we only have a 100 year supply "at most" (50 years on current data) left, infinite power generation supplies therefore have to be found and implemented within 50 to 100 years, and not just nuclear unless they actually sort out the fusion conundrum!?!

@tomcrouchman Peter is from a US perspective, the US is "again" energy independent, it's easier to use carbon and slowly introduce measures at your leisure, but in Europe which is getting the "squeeze" on energy it is more pressing, therefore renewables are developing at a fast pace for energy independence by 2035 (Although Germany and Italy might struggle without adopting New Nuclear). Storage of energy at scale is the biggest problem everything else is manageable, however alterations to the grid networks in Europe will be expensive over the long term it will pay dividends and Europe's grid "should" be the most efficient in the World, it most probably is already!?!
