The US has deficiencies in its supply chain of certain products that China majorly supplies or Tawain does. I understand that Tawain is making Chip Fab factories in the US to alleviate major supply loss if any incidents occur, but that is two to three years away, also the processed rare earth's and the like are around five years from being fully made in the US, so it will currently have a large impact but lesser over time assuming the industries are ramped up in the US, it's not plain sailing just yet, but they are in a better position than China because the US has self sufficiency (When all the factories and processing plants are built)!?!

@DK-ev9dg The South China Sea, International law ruled against China and for the Philippines, China says we want it anyway, same with all its other neighbours along the 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13 dash line, in contradiction to the 200 mile international zone law, it's just a bully boy!?!

That isn't quite true, China does a lot of rare earth processing and the like, and Tawain does the chips, so we can be squeezed although steps are being taken to limit this, but it will take 5 years presently, maybe 1 - 2 years in a rush!?!

Both the "Americans" seemed to think that China should be bought back into the fold of the current International order, and both are delusional, China has set its own path and it's not rose tinted, they will take but give nothing in return, China readies its military, the West should do the same!?!

@stephenmarks9081 The Global Times is a far fetched CCP propaganda tool and cannot be taken seriously in the West, it is utterly contradictory (Like Putin the invader calling for peace in Israel, a statement he can make without contradiction because if anybody in Russia does they will be arrested and face his wrath!), your plight is not of our doing, the ordinary Chinese citizens as a majority support the CCP, until this changes China will continue as is!?!

CCP China hates the US with a vengeance, Xi is an idealist not a pragmatist, all China's problems are due to the US (Or the West generally) in their eyes, they will take a swipe at control even if it hurts them badly to do so. Xi is immune to criticism at this point!?!

China is not self reliant at present, it was self reliant prior to industrialisation. Parts of the US wish to be isolationists, parts want to be global, depending on whether you're rich or poor to a great extent!?!

Well the first part about cheap labour was correct, but the middle bit was different where the 2007/ 2008 financial crash happened and China chose to buy its way out with debt instead of a reset, the end result is not known yet as a crash or a slow puncture, but with Xi at the helm it will not get better any time soon!?!

Mostly because of a belligerent Xi and the fact you can be arrested for any trumped up charge that the CCP can dream up for foreign investors and businessmen alike, so who would want to work in China, the worst aspect of it is that the CCP is institutionally corrupt!?!
