France and Germany have not got the Chinese threat memo, funny enough they didn't get the one about the Russian threat either, perhaps their "fax" is turned off, or they are just scuttling about for their own self interests because they have got themselves into a pickle, I think the rest of the Wider West are "binning" China off, but softly, softly, well apart from the US who are banging a drum about it!?!

@hanfucolorful9656 I think you'll find France's Macron is not Europe (He may not even represent French people's views on China at present) and Europeans have a negative view on China due to the aggressive policies undertaken by Xi, in recent polls there has been 75% to 95% majority in criticism of China, Ukraine is a part of Europe and support by China (.....and it is regarded as support, whatever China may disguise it as) for the barbaric Russian invasion does not help China's cause. Macron has domestic issues in France and a trip to China might relieve the tension, but I doubt it, I would imagine that it has confirmed to Europeans that China has only its own interests in the "new" world order, VDL (.......and her EU colleagues) is bound to be further reinforced in her negative views on China. China should bear in mind that Europe as a continent is a bigger trading block than China (.....and China runs a big trade surplus with Europe) and its ideology runs more in line with the US far more than it does with China, France and Germany try to run fast and loose but eventually they are returned back to the fold!?!

@308_Negra_Arroyo_Lane I can confirm the information is correct (Or more correctly that European citizens regard China as a threat rather than a business partner by 75 to 95% in recent polls in Europe, and China has a large trade surplus with Europe, all facts are freely available in the internet), so you must be the fantasy island fanatic!?!

I think that China's day is already done, it has backed the wrong horse in a two horse race and will have to pay the price, decouple is the only answer as they are a systemic threat to the Wider West in more ways than one - Incompetence/ Military ambition/ Demographics !?!

Macron is just getting away from his domestic issues, and meddling without any clout, China Xi's tut tutting shows the contempt for Europe (Including China's response to VDL, why on earth did they do separate visits at the same time, it seems ludicrous, VDL and Macron should have put on a united front but obviously they "couldn't"!), it's the same with Russia a total lack of contempt for Europe as both Germany and France DeFacto heads of Europe lack any gravitas. I hope the UK PM doesn't go to China but if he did I wouldn't want him to try and put words into Xi's mouth, I would prefer that he told Xi exactly where we stand in no uncertain terms!?!

The EU countries dropped a big bollo.... Er Clanger with dependence on Russian Energy, we have witnessed both Germany and France scuttle to China, most probably against their citizens wishes, and looking to compound their mistakes, it seems stupidity itself but that is what is happening, I wish the other EU countries would bring them back in order, we in the UK are fed up of dragging them back in line, it does get a bit grating, the fact is Russia is barbarically invading Ukraine a European country and China backed Russia in a two horse race, that is the reality, close your eyes at your peril!?!
