  1.  @Leshic2  Not to be to argumentative but that would appear to be Productive debt to which you refer, which at some point will generate a return, what we are seeing in China is Non Productive debt which will not generate a return and due to maintenance etc. will actually increase the debt, so it is a spiralling burden!?!

  3. 1) Yes a big problem for China now (They can thank their buddies Russia for that one!) 2) Yes but a minor impact at present, it's a bit like out of the frying pan and into the fire. 3) Not yet, the end of 2023 or 2024 earliest.

  4.  @hanfucolorful9656  PetroYuan Only in China, it's debt is 3 times that (Maybe more) of the U.S. and it has to cover shortfalls in its export market and property market to achieve a speculative 5% GDP, so more debt for the foreseeable future, it will pass Venuzaleu at this rate in two years at 350% and at least Venuzaleu still has oil reserves!?!

Yes and no, it's officially recorded debt is something like 50.5% (2022) of GDP, it's unofficial debt is 300% of GDP, slightly lower than Venezuela who gained top spot at 350% (2020) higher than Japan the previously most indebted country in the world at about 237% (2022), the U.S. is at 107% (2022 - nearly 3 X less). This is assuming that China's GDP figures are correct (as they are not readily verifiable) as analysts have calculated that these figures may be bloated by 10 to 35%, so along with its systemic problems it doesn't appear to be a good bet as Goldman Sachs seems to indicate!?!

  9. I think U.S. debt is about 24 Trillion, so yes a humongous amount of debt, hopefully not too much is foreign debt as if it goes pear shaped (Everything falls out at the bottom!) then they won't get their money back, Goldman Sachs beware!?!

  11. Renewable energy should have been further along the road in the Wider West than it is at present, due to errors of judgement and most probably an element of corruption. However great strides are being taken in renewables due to technology breakthroughs but economical energy storage seems a long way off. Europe will be powered by new nuclear and wind by 2035 primarily (Apart from laggard Germany) and the stranglehold by the Arabs will be over and the energy will be generated in our own backyard. The U.S. and Canada have their own supply, as does Australia (and NZ), it's still coal based as that's their biggest energy resource so they might as well use it until they develop their renewables which is at 25%. Japan is developing its renewables and is looking at new nuclear but is heavily reliant on importing fossil fuels. South Korea is also reliant on fossil fuel imports. The Arabs will therefore be extracting most of the cash from Asian countries for their oil in the near future and good luck to them!?!

  17. Saudi is playing both ends against the middle at present and it's difficult to see which direction it is taking, but in practise it is more like Iran than anything, they had better get their cheque books out if they want China to give them defense, it won't be cheap!?!
