@kindGSL China doesn't want to talk, it wants to be obeyed, there is a difference, it's called freedom!?!

@kindGSL If we do not take the appropriate steps however it will be a minor disaster for us also, we must become more self sufficient in the West or ally with countries who have the same outlook!?!

@zzbeasley The US and its allies do not genocidally overtake another country and occupy it, they are providing Ukraine the means to defend itself from Russia's invasion which is illegal under international law. It is not a long term business strategy it's a short term solution to a problem caused wholly by Russia so your comments are unwarranted!?!

Yes it seems to be a reoccurring theme with Germany, it is unfortunate that it's not really their fault but they should realise that things should change when the dictators become more beligerant (China) or even hostile (Russia, however Germany is lately supporting Ukraine at the right rate, not so much France!), I do put some blame on the US who could have beneficial trade deals with Europe and not favoured deals with its possible future adversary, and then looks to Europe for allies when things look to go pear shaped, like minded Western economies should stick together as Dictator ones are (For now at least)!?!

The CCP both majorly watered down the rights of its citizens and made the economy worse in Hong Kong. So Tawain would have to vote for less freedom and to be six times poorer on average than they are at present on the CCP model, it's a bit of an uphill task, the CCP is raising the spectre of invasion but that outcome is not so clear, it favours the CCP short term but not long term, there will be a far reaching Western response also, regardless of what China (and France) may think!?!
3
That is the CCP biggest blunder recently, the Hong Kong fiasco with severe watering down of their rights is not lost on Tawain, along with the mismanagement of the economy in Hong Kong which has the result of driving a high number of its affluent citizens to other parts of Asia or the West, Tawain does not want to lose its freedom's and be six times poorer, the CCP has a tough sell and if it uses force it will not be good!?!

Proper products made with repairable parts would be better than cheap Chinese goods you have to throw the whole thing after the 12 month guarantee, I still have a British made electric cooker from 1995 with all original elements working, I have had numerous crappy Chinese microwaves in that time!?!

Nil!?!

Obviously it's making its moves to influence the election to its way of thinking in the only language it knows by the big stick and not much carrot, Tawain would have to vote to remove its freedoms and be six times poorer to accept the CCP model, it's a tough sell!?!

Yes and shortly after BYD had all the autonomous driving software and the like, pirated of course, China will keep Elon as a useful idiot and then chew him up and spit him out, it's the Chinese way, they hate the West full stop!?!
1
@zzbeasley Russia illegally and barbarically invaded Ukraine, the Wider West is aiding Ukraine in its defence in a measured way, it would have preferred for Russia to have not invaded in 2014 and 2022, but they have chosen not to listen so they should pay the full price for their actions, they alone are the aggressor, when they leave the war will stop!?!
1
Well there's China's side, which has deliberately closed that part of the Country down to avoid any meaningful independent investigation (Which the CCP would not sanction) and the Wider West who call it what it is. China may have legitimate problems there, but its response, like Tiananmen Square, is Draconian in the extreme, but I expect no less from them. Elon Musk however is hitting new lows and he must be a liability to his shareholders at present!?!

pedrolopes3542 Funny enough the big two in Mainland Europe thought the same thing about Russia (France still does, not so much Germany) until reality crashed into their view front and centre and scuttled all their cozy preconceptions. Of course Europe will be affected if there is a trade war, or a real life war, and reshoring or alternative suppliers should be ongoing apart from the EV dumping which if allowed will hurt the European car industry greatly. China's business practises are not in line with trade rules and indeed they seem to be making up their own now, the rest of the World must make them follow the rules, that is what creates stability and order, even if it's a bit of a hardship some times, but I suppose we are talking about the EU whose percentage of trade in the World is due to reduce from 16% now to 10% by 2050 due to their uncompetitive practises!?!

If war breaks out all bets are off. Musk lost 40 billion on his social media acquisition, his Midas touch might be on the wane, especially with his comments on basically appeasing a genocidal dictator in a war zone!?!
