  2. the F35 Program isn't just paid for by the US, its a joint program across about 30 countries, and the 1.7 trillion lifetime cost is for the full duration of the program, we haven't spent 1.7 trillion on it. For further context the F35 is expected to be in service until at least 2070 and that's for over 2,200 Airframes across an almost 60 year period and Shoes video also used an article that took a qoute from a spokesperson wildly out of context, the F35 program is by all accounts a global success with 1,000 airframes produced so far
