@Myemnhk the Americans faced less than 600,000 germans the soviets at the same time were facing over 3 million german soldiers almost all of whom were veterans, the majority of units Americans fought were hastily assembled reserve units and Volksturm and Hitler Youth, the soviets won ww2 and even WESTERN historians state they would have won without western help it just would have taken 4 more years

The soviet airforce was largely soviet made by the time they turned the tide of the entire war at Stalingrad! The Americans and allied forces (not including the soviets) faced less than 25% of the German war machine, the soviets are who won the war

@Myemnhk and for the vast majority of russias war with Germany they had zero help in Europe idk what tf you are talking about the Americans didn't make a landing in Europe until the Germany military had already pushed back to near pre invasion borders and had already suffered two out of three of their major defeats on the eastern front with Operation Citadel occurring before and during allied landings in Sicily but by Citadel the germans had already lost the war in Europe to the Russians and the Russians alone

@Cyramor11 actually it could have and the US Department of Defense even released an entire report of how The Soviet Union would have defeated the Reich it would have just taken 2 more years, and allied bombing had minimal effect on the reichs full industrial capability and morale, the allies accounted for less than 10% of soviet wartime production, the allies fought children, old men, and conquered conscripts, fuck 70% of the troops at Normandy were Czechs, Norwegians; French, polish, reich was moreso crippled by British blockade and and inept war plan that constantly diverted needed resources to unnecessary fronts thus expending fuel they didnt have, the allies involvement is heavily overrated the allies in total faced less than 25% of the total German warmachine the soviets faced all the rest, along with over 90% of germanys veteran divisions being on the eastern front, along with the majority of the advanced hardware

No republic was autonomous meaning none had control over their "republic" the Soviet "Republics" were formed to make administration easier over the vast distances of the USSR none were autonomous and all contributed, the USSR had always used troops from certain military districts, they didnt have to ask for permission to conscript they just did it as the Soviet was the Supreme institution not the independent republics, they republics had less power than US states lmao

@martinishot Moscow wasn't under siege lmao, a shell never landed in Moscow and a German soldier never got within 10 miles of the city, British lend lease and American lend lease in 1942 to Russia accounted for less than 8% of total soviet production so no the British didnt keep the soviets alive lmao and those units were annihilated in fact most of the units posted near the Moscow line were reduced to 20-40% combat effectiveness and had to be folded into other divisions or reinstated by fresh conscript classes, half of those divisions didn't see combat again until late 1944 and almost every division that even got near the 12 mile line to Moscow had near depleted their ammo reserves and fuel reserves, the tank divisions needed replacement tanks as most had been reduced to 20% their original size, the germans got battered even getting close to Moscow

Ww2 national museum backs me up took me a quick search to find that on the percentage of troops, the 709th Static Division (at Normandy) was made up of Soviet, Czech and French POWS) the 352nd Infantry Division (also at Normandy faced by Americans) were disabled, elderly, or beneath the age of 18, the 716th (also at normandy) was underequipped and undermanned mainly manned by Osttruppen (conscripts from conquered nations) the most "elite" units sent against the Americans and British on D day were Children from the Hitler Youth Division of the SS most of whom died and Roosevelt also didn't say that The USSR surrendering was the Allies worst nightmare? The allies struggled in their land campaign against the scraps of the German army

@intergalacticolive a US DOD report on the war and alternate scenarios that could have happened place the USSR at being able to beat the germans alone but it would have taken up until 1947-48 and would have cost an additional 10-15 million casualties

@martinishot before the winter set in there were over 20 soviet counter offensives that caused disproportionate german losses in both armor and manpower and you should thank the soviets for fighting 95%of germanys veterans divisions, fighting 85% of their combined airforce, fighting 80% of their entire tank force, we should also thank them for facing close to 4 million german troops while the US and her allies faced less than 600k children, crippled men, elderly men, and forced conscripts, remember that german army had annihilated 2 of the world's top military powers (Britain didnt even have any heavy artillery and barely had tanks after her major defeat) the French were just destroyed, the polish wiped out, the czech army disbanded, and the soviet republica weren't autonomous they were apart of the Union they were one people, i just love how Americans brag about Normandy when 90% of the troops yall fought were crippled or disabled or poor Czechs who didn't even want to fight but were murdered anyways when they surrendered (saving private Ryan even makes fun of this fact by showing American soldiers execute Czech troops on the beach while they were surrendering)

@martinishot actually they didn't underestimate that, Germany knew, its whole goal for driving to Moscow was in the hope Japan would join the war and invade from the east, none of the German generals thought the invasion of the soviet union was feasible without full motorization of the army and without adequate time to replace tank losses from Poland and France (which by the time of the invasion hadn't been done) Adolf pushed the german time table up, the generals knew the reality of the situation (and that shows from their personal journals and diaries showing doubt and second thoughts) all in all the soviets annihilated veterans from 3 campaigns and reduced some of germanys best divisions to near company level strength and the germans near even set foot near the capital city then the soviets used their unity against the germans, hell germany didnt even majorly effect soviet production as by the time they invaded most soviet production facilities had been moved east beyond the mountains to safety

Almost every single one of the divisions the US faced were rear echelon units, units small enough to be left behind lmaoooo, and you underestimate the Chinese they held against a superior foe and technologically superior force for over 5 years, while the US fought starving men (95% of Japanese soldiers faced by the US were extremely malnourished by the time battle began) and operation downfall focused on southern ports, leaving Northern ports open to Japanese troop transports :) also this is a piece i took from the WW2 National Museum "The Soviet entry into the war was a significant factor in the Japanese government's decision to surrender unconditionally, as it was made apparent that the Soviet Union was not willing to act as a third party in negotiating an end to hostilities on conditional terms" if you have something to contradict the National WW2 Museum id love to see it

@johntaylor4513 ah I love American arrogance, the DOD highly disagrees with you as Chinese government and military were extremely decentralized and had commands that fought against each other, they were facing Japan's highly trained and veteran divisions almost all of whom had years of wartime experience by this point, China did admirably in holding off a much better organized, much better supplied (35% of Chinese units didnt even have machine guns) and much more advanced than them and the only thing the Japanese switched up was beach defense, they realized defending a beach as close as possibly was foolish but drawing Americans into a defense in depth in a hostile environment would give their inferior forces a greater advantage of America's superior force US incompetence time and again left your forces completely surrounded, the Japanese if they'd taken advantage of their initiative would have destroyed every marine deployed to Guadalcanal, so much so that Chesty Puller ordered his Marines to prepare for a Guerrilla campaign, because Navy arrogance left behind a small naval force that got destroyed by a superior Japanese naval force and left Marines starving and without ammo and if you call a bunch of starving mostly untrained kids a challenge than damn now ik why the Americans lost in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan
