The holiday celebrating victory over USSR is every april 28 and is called "MUJAHIDEEN VICTORY DAY" SO yeah, afghanistan 2.0 sounds pretty good for ukraine.:face-green-smiling:

If Ukraine is smart, they will not allow this, as long as Russia is in ukraine. Pummel them aggressively and force the settlement of the issue one way or another....

Its just Russian nonsense as usual. Russia got run out of afghanistan in 10 years. That was was when russia was the much more powerful USSR and that war was a major reason why USSR fell apart into 15 different pieces. lol And that was by goatherders riding camels. They even have a national holiday now celebrating their victory over USSR. Mujahideen Victory Day. April 28. So there is NO WAY russian can last that long. This war is much more intense and much more expensive. They either win it in a couple or at most a few years, or they are toast.

  5. No, Russia (ussr) didnt fight the taliban. They lost to others. US are the one that fought and easily very quickly beat taliban. Then held the nation for 20 years, only losing 3,000 men.. But USSR got whacked in afghanistan. Lost 5 times that many men. Got run out. And had their own country (ussr) fall apart into 15 pieces at the end of the war... Afghani kids are very thankful to Russia for their day off school every april 28, when they celebrate victory over ussr. Its called "MUJAHIDEEN VICTORY DAY".

Russia (USSR, when russia was actually more powerful) lost 5 times that many men when they were in afghanistan. Got run out of afghanistan. At the end of the war, USSR fell apart into 15 pieces...   11. Never happen. USSR fell apart trying to fight afghanistan in 10. And this is a MUCH more intense war with much more money munitions equipment and people being used up. If Ukraine is smart they will allow NO ceasefires or "breaks" in fighting until Russia is out of the country. Medvedev spoke of wanting to make it long with breaks every so often. That would only benefit Russia.

Russia took the lands that they hold in the opening days of the war, before ukraine was even prepared to fight... They have gained nearly zero in the year since. Everywhere they have gained a few kiliometers, they lost some elsewhere. Basically they occupy 20 to 25% of the country. And they thought the war would be won in a week! The supposed #2 (not anymore) miliatry stopped by Ukraine. The war isnt over, and either side has a chance to "win" at the moment. But for now, fighting to a stalemate, that is the very definition of "stopped". Stopped as in not moving forward. Not getting really any closer to "victory". HOpe this clears up your confusion.

Even MEdvedev in this video says that they expect to make it a long war with ceasefires and breaks then resuming the fighting... If i am ukraine, I dont allow it.
