Russia is plenty big enough for all russians that want to live there... But its not about that... Its about Russia wanting ukraine under their thumb and to eventually add them back to Russia.... Just like they will want to eventually take moldova, georgia, belarus etc.. If Ukraine is smart, they will fight this one to the end.... No deals.
