Philippines is under protection of the US and Philippines will also have assistance from japsn, austrailia, Vietnam and possible others, like france etc...although not really needed, since USA alone is more than enough. Sounds like my new Chinese friend knows this and is having a problem coping.

Philippines are a different story and have a far different relationship and history. Also a written agreement, US has stated even this year that it's iron clad
