What renders your asinine biased and uneducated statement null and void is the FACT there were a helluva lot of battles that lead up to that point. Including those by the US that prevented Hitler from unifying the forces that they were fighting to finish off Soviets. Soviets were permitted by the US to go forward and take Berlin because they fought from the beginning and took such HUUUUGE losses. Everyone involved felt it was the right thing to do. The battle was completely decided and over before that, and it was nothing more than symbolic. Even USSR's leader and future leader both said without US help, they definately[ would have lost the war. Hope that clears up your confusion kid. @mark4371

Nikita Khrushchev: "If the United States had not helped us, we would not have won the war," he wrote in his memoirs. "One-on-one against Hitler's Germany, we would not have withstood its onslaught and would have lost the war. No one talks about this officially, and Stalin never, I think, left any written traces of his opinion, but I can say that he expressed this view several times in conversations with me." @mark4371 The taking of Berlin, the war was already 100% decided. Nothing more than symbolic at that point and USSR was permitted by others to take it because they were the ones that had been slaughtered and nearly extincted by Hitlers army.

To Mark 4371: Soviets were permitted to symbolically take Berlin, because they had lost so much in their war against Germany. OVer 20 million men died fighting for the soviets. I say symbolically because at that point the war was all but over anyway and everyone knew it. Kruschev: " If the United States had not helped us, we would not have won the war," he wrote in his memoirs. "One-on-one against Hitler's Germany, we would not have withstood its onslaught and would have lost the war. No one talks about this officially, and Stalin never, I think, left any written traces of his opinion, but I can say that he expressed this view several times in conversations with me." Hope that clears up your confusion.

History from someone who lived it, kid: Nikita Khrushchev: "If the United States had not helped us, we would not have won the war," he wrote in his memoirs. "One-on-one against Hitler's Germany, we would not have withstood its onslaught and would have lost the war. No one talks about this officially, and Stalin never, I think, left any written traces of his opinion, but I can say that he expressed this view several times in conversations with me." Your welcome. @mark4371
