  1. THe job was finished. THey whipped the heck out of the Taliban and held the country. The end goal was never possible however. There were no possibilities of a government being able to take over and govern on their own with so much regional instability. It was a near impossible goal from day one. On the other hand, Russia got whacked by the goatherders in afghanistan and were sent with their tails tucked right out of the country.
