  7. The ISSUE is mandates. PCF/CGT is against mandates and passports, for crying out loud. Every Scandinavian country is against mandates. Every left-wing party outside of the Five Eyes (and several inside them) is against mandates. Ask yourselves why you need them. I believe you that you do. I'm not hearing why. Please, enlighten us?

So many people swooped in on Amy Coney Barrett and attacked her personally, when what they should have done was to stop any nomination from taking place while the country was already in early voting. Literally took the worst course. Horrible. Those personal attacks against ACB were performative! And ugly. She has had tragedies in her life. But she did not belong on any federal court, let alone the Supreme Court, replacing Justice Ginsburg. Did they stop that? NO.

  14. There are a number of reasons to try this strategy to gain M4A. First, a loss, now, is NOT predictable. What usually happens may not happen this time, because we are not living in normal times. Second, politicians having to go on the record against M4A during a pandemic, in a country shedding jobs like crazy, where health insurance is tied to a job, is a tough calculation for them now. That's what they need to do -- represent us. And if they don't represent us, no more lurking in the shadows. We want the truth in full view. Third, no one ever got anywhere by playing nice -- well, except for career advancement. But real progress? Never. Other than that, Krystal Ball and Briahna Joy Gray gave more technical reasons why to demand a vote now, and Cornel West is for it on principle. Krystal is an accountant and knows about forensic accounting in addition to journalism, BJG is Harvard Law and Bernie's former press secretary, and Dr. West is plain brilliant. So they are worth the time to read or watch.

  26. Bruce Schroeder was appointed to the bench by a Democratic governor of Wisconsin. He also admonished the prosecution for insinuating that invoking the right to remain silent upon arrest is a sign of guilt, when that is what everyone SHOULD do. Schroeder doesn't strike me as competent overall, but his tirade against violating anyone's 5th Amendment rights was great. Do Your Homework

  31. You have to address the fact that the Clintons were eager to see Trump run, seeing him as the easiest opponent to beat. This simply happened. Absent COVID, he probably would have won a second time (!!) What do you take away from this? What is the big picture? The problem is, guys who actually grew up working class may be wrong on a particular issue, but they do have some real political instincts. Another problem is that the Democrats have become a party of neoliberal globalists and war mongers. This makes voting for them in any circumstances problematic. They also become worse every cycle. Therefore, voting for them actually has to be part of a larger strategy.

  39. It isn't. No left party in Europe supports vaccine mandates. No Scandinavian country has them. CGT (hard left, France) recently organized a demonstration of vaccinated health care workers in support of their unvaccinated colleagues and against the mandates. L'Obs posted a video, and all the comments below it praised the CGT for their humanity. Very beautiful, actually. I hope this won't be censored. Usually is.

  41.  @thehumanity0  Three things. Slowly this time. 1. You may have heard there is a pandemic. It is real. More contagious varieties of coronavirus are turning up. Health insurance is tied to employment and employment is collapsing. The US has proven itself unable to deal with these things already. 2. What was stated in (1) makes it harder to vote against M4A now. It is politically fraught. You cannot go by what would have happened last year. In 2019, it wouldn't have passed. In 2021, it very well could pass. Not that it certainly will, but that it could. That makes it worth fighting for now. 3. Voting no could have serious consequences. It could cause a lot of politicians to be voted out. It could become THE political issue of the 2022 election. This could be true whether or not M4A passes, and especially if it doesn't pass. So, apart from being the right to do, supporting M4A is also a political risk worth taking. It may not turn out to be much of a risk at all.

It's not a Big Deal to pressure a politician like Nancy Pelosi to serve the people in a crisis. She just gave a chairmanship to Kathleen Rice, who not only withheld her vote for Speaker last time, but started out in politics as a REPUBLICAN. This is Realpolitik. I'm not a big AOC fan, but this gets under my skin. (*This* was divisive. Pelosi, however, is apparently not worried about being divisive.) Also, don't swear at me. Or on second thought, do. It has the opposite effect you intended, for anyone with a brain.

  47. This podcast focused on First Amendment law and its limitations in protecting free speech. Impeachment was a brief side issue, not the main topic. The free speech discussion was one of the best I've heard in a long time. Three of the four people on were distinguised lawyers, so it was on a level. Why does Sam do this? He is smart and cute. I don't get it.
