Congress could have passed a resolution distancing themselves from her words and affirming their support for Israel. Instead, it voted to censure her, which is a finding of wrongdoing for having spoken and a formal reprimand for her words. They did this even though her speech is First Amendment protected. Instead of passing a resolution, they doled out a punishment. And for WHAT? (Did they make us "safer?") They are sworn to protect and defend our Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. (They forgot already?)

@sdmoralesma No. I think a censure was not appropriate, because it is a punishment for speech, and was intended to chill speech that I know is constitutionally protected. I think for myself. No one in Congress thinks for me. Read the Brandenburg case, or let Glenn Greenwald explain it to you.

@sdmoralesma You can't be prosecuted by the government under the First Amendment. Are you sure you're making sense? When you don't like someone's speech, you vote them out.

@sdmoralesma The Constitution preempts all other laws. You need to rethink this. My advice stands, especially concerning Brandenburg v. Ohio. Congress should be ashamed of themselves. They swore to uphold THIS Constitution, not to cast it aside for political gain. Congress could have passed a resolution distancing themselves from her words and affirming their support for Israel. Instead, it voted to censure her, which is a finding of wrongdoing for having spoken, and a formal reprimand for her First-Amendment protected words. And for WHAT? (Did they make us "safer?" Laughable.) You all give up your rights too easily. A Palestinian woman from Detroit has more guts than Gutfeld.
