@DanEMO592 Took the words out of my mouth!

@brentb5303 Their current unemployment is beyond their control, and they may not qualify for unemployment benefits if they just graduated.

@DisappointedBuddha Guess who never went to college? And believes those goofy fraternity house movies, LOL.

@brentb5303 Oh my goodness. Straight to ad hominem.

@brentb5303 Yeah, because Contracts. Or something. I have never had debts for school. My last car note was paid off a year early, in 2008. No mortgage, either. Man, when this economy implodes, people will not know what hit them.

@DisappointedBuddha Nicely said. And think of it! The decision you make before attaining the age of majority is the one that can result in debts that CANNOT be discharged in bankruptcy! And how is anyone supposed to believe that in an evermore mechanized world, there will be jobs for people without a college degree? Of course there will be some, but are guys with asthma supposed to become construction workers? Are petite women? Can everyone be a plumber? An electrician? A roofer? It's not even evident that high school alone prepares a person for every trade school. In any event, foisting this burden on the young is beyond unconscionable. There are things in this system that are allowed to pass that I would have never believed. The biggest thing these kids "did wrong" was to be born to the wrong parents. No one else rations education this way, or impairs the future wages of the student who didn't start out rich.

@brentb5303 What I did wasn't good enough. My family suffered repeated tragedies and the pandemic was the final blow. I can be all right for a while, even a few years, but will probably have to emigrate in the end. And that is probably a very good thing. When you get out, that's when you realize how crazy all this is.

@DevilJin01 Yeah, and think of who could "work from home" this past year -- and who couldn't. Were the high school students graduating over the last ten years supposed to plan for this? Were they responsible for foreseeing it? Blame them if they didn't?!
1
@DevilJin01 Predatory, yeah!! Perfect word for it. Extract every last drop, from everyone, and leave no one's little nest egg in peace.

Maybe more riots will up the ante?

800mEric So far, since the MARCH lockdowns, we have gotten a grand total of . . . $1800. This is a disgrace. Enhanced unemployment does NOT make up for it, as is evident everywhere. Not everyone profoundly affected qualifies for unemployment benefits. Lord, I know a sole practitioner lawyer with an Ivy undergrad degree who is getting $200 a week (!!) in paycheck protection. This, to maintain his office in his apartment. Absolutely unreal. What is wrong with these idiot politicians? What do they imagine their job to be?
