  2.  @jamesmarhen  In a lot of countries, it is as hard to become a "master teacher" as it is to become an engineer. The highest civil service exam for high school teachers is the very same one as for university teachers. I can't see teachers becoming a high prestige status in America. Women who used to become teachers now go to law school, or strive to become professors at private universities. I mention women, because I can't see more men going into the field, either.
