(As an aside: The WHO could not be bribed to go along, and said a GMO in food must be proved safe for humans case by case, properly invoking the Precautionary Principle. This is an example of evidence-based human nutrition, actually.)

  8. Matt, we had Afghan "allies" who owned boys for sex, and our troops who protested were told to shut up. One service member who refused to shut up was assassinated. New York Times reported it. So it was in plain sight in every sense of the word, as much as any news story could possibly be. Did anything happen? The parents got a dead body.

Had COVID never happened, I'd still be stumbling along, expecting everything to be all right, "probably." Well . . . no. It is not all right. I better get a grip. Your wife is a very lucky woman. Getting a tiny condo somewhere in the US, and getting out with all the rest -- my desire if I can swing it.

  14.  @morganspicer3105  Why would you offer a dangerous animal to some other family, or to a shelter? How is that ethical? You consult a couple of veterinarians, and if they agree the cat is abnormal and cannot be treated or trusted, then you euthanize it. People come first.

  15. I don't think that what is happening in Gaza is penetrating people's minds. This isn't meant as an excuse. I think people are generally no longer cognitively or mentally healthy, and it is very serious. Who knows what could happen next? I see nothing better ahead.

I think he may know a thing or two about guns? The ad would be laughable if his family weren't struck by tragedy. In any event, who is tracing what, exactly? And who do they work for? And why do you think that's an easy job? Seems that the cases filed against those who did transfer funds illegally were not easy to prove at all.

  34. After reviewing human evolution in an origins of human language grad seminar, it struck me that most high school freshmen are too young for this. If taught honestly, certain facets of primate sexuality will come up, and 13 or 14 is young for that. A short time later, I found out that some of the top private schools teach evolutionary biology senior year. That's what you do.

You do understand that rape is not rare, that reluctance, and all too rational fear to express reluctance, is ordinary, and that rich women, and rich men's girlfriends, will always have options -- including IVF and surrogacy? You get that part, correct? Maybe the problem is general culture. Like from books and discussion and writing, and keeping serious journals, and thinking a lot, and wanting to know things and to be fair.

  41. You're very much behind the times. Very few people are having pleasure. It has become so unusual that to stand in their way is not a culture of celebrating life. What happened to "CHOOSE Life?" I'm good with that, and always have been, provided the emphasis is on the "choose," where it belongs. Try persuasion, not policing pregnancies and the wombs of utter strangers. Have people read Play It As It Lays, or Hills Like White Elephants. Or read those yourself. I mean, if it's changing the culture that you're really after. I would almost bet money you won't even check to see what's in them.
